acidrip, mencoder, ffmpeg problem

Sorry if the title isn't very clear, but I reall' don't know where the problem can be...

I tried to tip a DVD of mine, but the problem is that I can't read the file with my dvd/divx player. I mean that I can watch to matrix.avi with mplayer with no problems, but as I burn a DVD and I give It to my player, it doesn't work, it can't recognise the file. matrix.avi is written in the menu, but as soon as I select it, the player says it can't recpgnise the format.

The strange thing is that I have no problems with the avi files I download from the net.

This is the command line that acidrip generates

unlink frameno.avi 2> /dev/null
mencoder dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/dvd-hda -aid 129 -info srcform="DVD ripped by acidrip.sf.net" -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=ac3:abitrate=128 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:v4mv:vqmin=2:vbitrate=1000 -vf pp=de,scale=800:-2 -o "/home/luca/movies/the_matrix.avi"

thanks for any suggestion and... merry Christmas!!!!

You need to rip in another codec, like mpeg probably in order for your DVD player to be able to play it. Or convert after ripping. If you really want all DVD players to be able to play, you should really convert to VCD.

uh, I forgot to say that in the proprieties, the video codec of my file is FFmpeg MPEG-4, and the video codec of the files my dvd player can read is DivX MPEG-4 Version 5.

Ok, so you're probably right... I suppouse I can change the codec in acidrip's settings... but where can I download it and what's his name?
