Acer aspire one.
Hello folks, I'm here in London going crazy. My notebook has no sound on the WEB CAM, The Laptop sound is fine, but I've never had WEB CAN sound, can anyone help. Thanks Carol

Web cams don't have sound. You need a headset connected to the sound jack.

Sorry, do you mean THIS web cam doesn't have sound?
If so why is there a small hole with a mic picture next to it. |
This isn't really my area of interest, but nobody can help you help yourself until you provide some more information. It's unlikely anyone is going to reply further to this thread until you tell us the following:
What's your "notebook"? What's your linux distribution called (with version number)? What's your WEB CAM make/model? What application(s) are you using? What is happening and what would you like to happen? And welcome to LQ! |
Are you still running the Linups Lite OS that came on the Acer Aspire One ?
Is the Microphone unmuted in teh mixer panel ? If this is a Linpus Lite issue you may want to check in the official Acer Aspire one forums http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/ From the ArchLinux AcerAspireOne Wiki Quote:

I'm sorry folks, I feel like a silly little girl now, I thought it might be an easy thing that I was not seeing, But it's too big for me, I cant even give you guys the info you need to help me. Thanks anyway. Carol

This is what some call a "Self-Fulfilling Prophesy".
In this case: If you say (or think) that you cannot do something, then in fact you can't. I believe the Aspire One has a built-in web cam, so one obvious question might be whether sound is working at all. Are you able to get sound when going to websites? Also, I would think that trying farslayer's suggestions would be pretty straightforward---did you try? |
