Access to a SAMBA share is on wrong NIC.
Hi,
We are new to Linux and are having a ball figuring things out. I am having an issue where I have a Linux server with a share to it's local storage. I currently have a bond setup of two intel GigE nics. There is also another NIC installed on a different subnet. The bond and the other NICs are attached to different switches. We have 4 WINXP clients mapped to the Bond IP(172.16....)All 4 XP systems have second NICs installed on a 43.140.... network. This is the same subnet as the other card in the server. The 43 subnet on the workstations has netbios enabled. I have an IO generator running on each workstation and I monitor the NICs on the Linux server. All IO's should be hitting the two NICS in the bond. Usually one of the systems will end up with the IO's hitting the 43 subnet NIC on the server not the bond. If I turn off netbios on the clients 43 subnet, the problem goes away. The mapped network drive on the clients is mapped to the 172 subnet.
Note: I am using bond mode 6(ARP) but have tried bond mode 0(round robin). It happens in either mode.
I could just turn off netbios on the clients' 43 subnet but since I have been trying to solve this, I need to know why it happens.
Thanks
Smitty
