about webcam support for GAIM

Yes there is an utility for gaim, it suppotrs webcam with msn-users. The add-on is called gaim-vv (gaim-vv.sourceforge.net). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with the newest version of msn. But I had no posibitities to try it with other gaim users,

But does this utility also provide me with the driver for the same....i have a logitech webcam...don't know the num or ID....(its with my friend)!! and i cdn't find any drivers for the same ... i mean not just for the messenger but for local view also.

No of course not, you need v4l. And the webcam must be supported under one of the v4l drivers (e.g bttv). You need to look at the website wether your webcam is supported. Is it as usb webcam? The try lsusb -A And look for the videodevice. Then you should google for the device. Or post it here.
