About trial reminder of non-free software

Recently I installed UtralEdit for linux in my Fodera 12 with only 30 days trial. I always think that softwares under linux are free. After the trial deadline, I uninstalled the software and re-installed with the hope to get another 30 days trials, but failed.
This is beyond my knowlodge, i used to think only windows software can have infos remain in the OS even uninstalled.
Then I use rpm -ql UltraEdit and gets:

$ rpm -ql UltraEdit
/usr/local/bin/uex
/usr/local/share/uex/TAGLIST.UET
/usr/local/share/uex/helpfiles.zip
/usr/local/share/uex/ipms/images/button_big.jpg
/usr/local/share/uex/ipms/images/ue_icon.gif
/usr/local/share/uex/ipms/images/uexbox_big.jpg
/usr/local/share/uex/ipms/ipm.html
/usr/local/share/uex/ipms/ipm_bottom.html
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/helpfiles.zip
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/ipms/images/button_big.jpg
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/ipms/images/ue_icon.gif
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/ipms/images/uexbox_big.jpg
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/ipms/ipm.html
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/ipms/ipm_bottom.html
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/uex.mo
/usr/local/share/uex/translations/de/wxstd.mo
/usr/local/share/uex/ue.png
/usr/local/share/uex/wordfile.uew
/usr/share/applications/uex.desktop
/usr/share/icons/ue.png

I first uninstalled UltraEdit and then delete the files listed above. But again failed to reset the trial reminder.

Linux is a completely open source OS, all changes made by any software can be tracked. UltralEdit must write its private infos in a place. How can we find it?
Can rpm record every change it made when installing software?

There are a lot of possibilities to "hide" some information and all ARE crackable, but I will definitely NOT assist you doing that (and I hope no other member will). NO, there is absolutely NO OBLIGATION to make linux software free. If you don't want to buy UltraEdit, MOVE ON and use something else.

I agree with zirias, if you want to use UltraEdit, buy it. Otherwise try one of the 3,456,584 other text editors out there that are free. I'd be VERY surprised if there wasn't one that does pretty much everything UltraEdit does.

Please do not post questions about how to bypass a vendor's method of protecting their interests---be it copy protection, or getting around the locking of trial SW. See the LQ rules---contact any moderator if you have further questions about this.
