Hi, all

i want to start a service with the tomcat server, and it is running on
the background. that is mean when the tomcat server is on, the service
is avaliable. and when the tomcat server is being shutdown, the servece
is off.

the service maybe is a servlet or something else, i don't know.

i want the service will do something itself, i.e. it run periodically.
on the other hand, maybe, i can start a type of service to response to
user's query, something like jsp page.

is it possible? and HOW to configure the tomcat?
i am a newbie. the tomcat version used is 5.0.25.
