About LaTeX and fonts in LaTeX
 

Hi, I've been trying to work with LaTeX to print in Linux. Can anybody give me some suggestions as to where I might find resources and tutorials about LaTeX?

Also I'm confused about the font system in LaTeX. How do I use / choose a font type? And where cen I find the resources, fonts, and tutorials about font in LaTeX?

It's not a direct answer, but consider trying LyX. It's a GUI document processor which uses LaTeX to do the heavy lifting. You can export your document as text, PDF, HTML and LaTeX.

I've had a generally good experience with it while creating the Stellarium User Guide.

Using and installing fonts can depend on the LaTeX system you use.

Thanks, but what I wanted is to be able to understand LaTeX because I used it to generate a report from my own program. I am currently developing an application that can generate / print a report. The report is created in the application in LaTeX and converted to Post Script and then printed by CUPS.
