Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

i want to upgrade my KDE to new version 3.1.2
which packages should i download and upgrade to the new version at least?
btw:i use slackware8.1,is there a complied packages?or i must download the sourse and complie it myself?
please tell me,thanks a lot
go take a look at the package called Swaret..it downloads from the slackware ftp site, and i think it takes care of dependancies also...so for something like kde, this maybe an easier route to get it done.
well there is alot of packages so thats why i recommended what i did, just to see if that could help you out, but anyways, i think this thread would be best for you to read, and just go from there. they show the links in posts to a couple of links where you get all the packages, so i think this will be beneficial to you...
