A7N8X-E Deluxe RH9 SATA RAID 0
 

I have the 2.4.20-8 kernel.
I have formated and created a RAID 0 Set within the controller's BIOS.
I downloaded the drivers from ASUS's site.
The script installs the sii6512.o driver for my kernel but the driver was compiled for 2.4.20-8BOOT so I have to load it manually with "insmod -f sii6512.o".
The set is recognized as /dev/sda (or /dev/sda and /dev/sdb without the RAID Set).
I am able to fdisk /dev/sda and create a partition of 100% of the two 80MB Seagate drives.
However when i "mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sda1" on the RAID Set the computer freezes after some warnings about the SCSI controller being reset after timeout from the drives.
I have trides a software raid using /dev/md0, not only does it freezes in the same manner, but afterwards i must re-low-format /dev/sdb.
Please let me know what other info you need about this problem.

Try updateing motherboard bios if its an onboard raid or update raid card's bios if you have an addin pci raid card.

Also make sure your jumpers are correct on your drives and dma is on.

try this first.

My bios is 1012 with a SATA bios 4.2.47.
The latest bios from ASUS is 1013 but does not seem to update the SATA controller:

1. Patch new Samsung DDR400 DRAM to fix enter WinXP problem
2. Fixed Speech IC detect abnormal for CPU overclocking

I found another bios update on the net, the uber 1013, that will do that:

This one has the new v4.2.50 SATA bios added into it.
Its based on the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe 1013 final bios.
The latest versions of this bios are always available in the Asus forums on www.nforcershq.com

Do you know about these uber bioses? I am thinking this is the one to try...

I just updated the BIOS to 1013, successfully.
However, after pressing F1 to reboot nothing happened.
So I turned it off and back on and now it tells me that the computer did not start properly last time so I have to adjust the processor settings (nothing is different in the BIOS). It asks me to press DEL to go in the BIOS and make changes.
I do it and after 'Save & Exit' it does the same.

I surely hope somebody has an idea because I am lost.
