A problem about Xorg

today i used the command "startx" to startup my Xorg

but the computer could't run smoothly and i had to use

Ctr+Alt+F1 to switch to the text mode, but when i switched to the

text mode,there was not shell prompt,then i used Ctr+d
to stop the startup of Xorg

I want to know why this happens

You do not mention what desktop you are running but 128MB is not enough. The lowest for a desktop is 192MB and recommended 256MB.

In very simple terms when you switched the computer due to low memory was doing a lot and just had not caught up.

Running a lightweight desktop like xfce would help. Also running a lighter weight OS would help.

Fedora 9 is obsolete and no longer supported.
