Angry A Linux distro of Tomcat4?

Anyone know where to get a real Linux distribution of Tomcat4?

Here's the helpful info in the tar.gz file I got from this URL:

http://apache.mirror.digitalspace.ne...at-4/binaries/

I went for the LE version since I'd just installed the JDK for 1.4.1.... but there isn't anything remotely Unix about this file (you have a choice of .zip and .tar.gz--I went for the tar.gz....). What I've got is a bunch of Windoze-like .bat files in the bin directory (hoping for startup.sh and shutdown.sh and so on).

The instructions that came in the tag.gz file, include these unhelpful-sounding directions:

* Download a binary distribution of Tomcat from:

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jak...t-4.0/nightly/

On a Windows platform, you will need:
jakarta-tomcat-4.0-YYYYMMDD.zip

On a Unix platform, you will need:
jakarta-tomcat-4.0-YYYYMMDD.zip

Okay, so I used a mirror site (but the files date from mid-December so the mirror should be up to date...). And, I didn't want a nightly build anyway, but a stable one.

What I don't get is the part about choosing which file to get (the file names for Windoze and Unix look, shall we say, the same).

So, is there any place to get a Tomcat4 download that really is intended for Unix--or is there something I don't know about the magic compatibility of .bat files and Linux?

Thanks folks!

John

Found it?

This is the rpm list from apache.org, but I can't figure out why the LE version won't install (claims I don't have the XML and so on that's built into the JDK 1.4.1 I already installed).

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jak.../v4.1.18/rpms/

The "full" rpm did install; now if I can just get it to work....

Thanks to those who viewed the post.
