A less discriminatory search tool

i'm in need of a gnew search tool. the gnome search tool doesn't work very well... for me that is. i would like something similar to the windows search tool. for example, in windows if i were to search for "rune" it would bring up rune.exe, rune.txt, and even prune.jpg. any help would be greatly appreciated.

check the cron man page. he meant job not jod anyway. it just keeps the file database upto date by rebuilding it daily or whenever

the basic unix search tool is "find". the most basic use is:

find / -name rune
or
find / -name "rune*"

find like most Unix tool is powerfull so see man page for details.
