a few questions on dual booting with xp

I have a few questions on dual booting (perhaps triple booting)XP home and Linux. I have both Mandrake 8.2 and Redhat 7.2 on CDs. Do I partition out my hard drive before I install one of them or do I just install one and it will automatically let me dual boot. Also, would you give me your input on which distribution would be more accomodative to a newbie user, Mandrake or Redhat? Thanx

Ok, I would suggest defrag your drive under Windows, then if there is not enough free space (for full install of Mandy you'd need about 3 Gb) make some room, now boot from a linux installation CD, proceed with install, in the setting your partition choose free space and assign partititions you want to create, and install LILO or GRUB bootloader. I would recommend for a newbie Mandrake distro, it is ewasiest to install with graphic installation and explanations, but why not try them both, you can install RedHat afterwards, just leave out lilo installation in RedHat, then it is a metter of configuration of lilo or grub to make a triple boot. Any questions give us feedback.

Ok, I installed windows and copied my partitions to my other hard drive that is the same size. I was running a dual boot on my original hard drive with Debian and windows XP. I copied all of my parittions to my new hard drive with drive image except my windows partition (which I installed seperately before transferring my Linux partitoins). On my new hard drive I have all of that but installed Suse also. I am now dual booting Suse and XP with Suse's version of Lilo on the MBR. When I am in Suse, I can see all my Debian files in the Debian partition. When I try to pick Debian as the option in Lilo, I get a secondary green dos-like Lilo menu. When I try to pick Debian from that, it does nothing, but when I try to pick any other option from there it boots ok like windows or suse. My Debian distro is on /dev/hda3. Does anyone have a solution for this?
