Grub generally does work - though it can be a little cryptic. If you post more details of your issue, including a little about your machine including other operating systems, type of disk drive(s), and any partitioning information you know, people will be more able to help you.

I'm having problems in starting up my FC4 linux.
I can't install Grub
I'm having serious and unsolvable problems in installing GRUB
So, is there any other bootloader than can get me into linux without reinstalling linux (this would be a disaster for me)?

Another commonly used bootloader for linux is called LILO (LInux LOader).
Would it be a disaster because it was such a struggle the first time? If it was a struggle (and it doesn't boot), it probably did not complete properly. Do you think the install was successful?
Or would it be a disaster because you would lose information? There are ways of recovering the information.
Unsolvable? Come on, us humans can solve anything.
Is this a dual boot machine, booting windows as well? If it is, then you might be able to use windows to boot the linux install. Personally, I would find this much harder to get right and would prefer to get grub sorted out. Here's someone who's done it, but I suspect yo won't be able to follow this method because you've already missed a bit (making a boot floppy):

Some tools that will help you on your journey
- a linux live cd that uses grub or has grub installed on it
- if you have fried your master boot record (MBR), and can no longer install you other OS, you will need either your Windows (if that was the other OS) install and/or recovery CD(s) OR some alternative (I've used FreeDOS for this).
And here is the grub manual. If you think it's a bit technical, I agree. But it will tell you what you need to know, eventually.
