3d rendering permissions

I seem to have something wrong with my permissions when I run apps using 3d rendering (specifically Google Earth) . They run fine as root but just judder to halt when i try to run them as a user -

this is the output I get

sean@1[~]$ /home/sean/google-earth/googleearth
FGLTexMgr: open of shared memory object failed (Permission denied)
__FGLTexMgrCreateObject: __FGLTexMgrSHMmalloc failed!!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrCreateObject failed!!
FGLTexMgr: open of shared memory object failed (Permission denied)
__FGLTexMgrCreateObject: __FGLTexMgrSHMmalloc failed!!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrCreateObject failed!!

.... ad infinitum

but I don't know which files are the problem?
