3D-Animation

Hi,
I want to learn 3D-Animation. Please can anyone suggest any good 3d-Animation software, which is easy to learn.

Thanks in advance

I don't think there is any such thing - 3D animation is non-trivial.

Blender and Maya can be used for movie quality 3D animation and modelling. IIRC: Maya outstrips blender by quite a way. I would not call them simple to learn. I also see Poser 3D and Soft Image mentioned, but have not tried.

GNU/Linux and FOSS in general tends to lack in-between software. The apps are either very basic or very complex. This is a side effect of open source development. The simple ones are kept that way by policy - anything else that is popular gets added to so it quickly stops being simple.

The proprietary world, otoh, has no reason to sell you anything more than exactly what little you need ... they can charge more for a more complex version. In fact we see the opposite effect here - where programs are deliberately hobbled into "pro" and "home" and "ultimate" editions because the vendor makes more money that way.

In the foss world, the main restriction on a program is user bandwidth and add-on stability. So the GIMP you get with a distro is pretty much complete, no half-baked "student" edition, but there are still add ons available.

As mentioned, you can use Blender, which is free and Maya, which will cost you a lot of money. I have tried to teach myself Blender some time ago, but then I went back to 3D Studio Max in that, you know, OTHER OS :), because I was doing a course in 3D animation (my 2nd), and that's what they were teaching. I would prefer Max because it is far more developed than Blender (I would *hate* to get a great idea for an animation in my head, but then find I'm not able to make it on the computer because the software is lacking), but anyway, it's advancing steadily I think and there's PLENTY to be done with it. The Blender site has links I think to lots and lots of tutorials, including video tutorials, so .... have fun! :)

Blender would be your best option if you are looking for free software. I have used Maya, as mentioned earlier, it outdoes Blender by a lot, but is thousands of dollars.
