Unhappy 2 glib-2.0 versions installed, PKG_CONFIG_PATH

Hi,

Im using DSL (Debian based i think)

Earlier this day, i accidentally installed glib 2.8.6 on top of my 2.6.4

But as the 2.6.4 version is managed via my packagemanager Synaptic, and the 2.8.6 is not, both of them are now installed, causing problems when i want to install, in this case Gaim.
Quote:
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0...
*** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.8.6, but GLIB (2.6.4)
*** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best
*** to remove the old version of GLib. You may also be able to fix the error
*** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing
*** /etc/ld.so.conf. Make sure you have run ldconfig if that is
*** required on your system.
*** If pkg-config was wrong, set the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH
*** to point to the correct configuration files
no
configure: error:
*** GLib 2.0 is required to build Gaim; please make sure you have the GLib
*** development headers installed. The latest version of GLib is
*** always available at website.
If i try to uninstall glib 2.6.4 via my packagemanager, it says that it needs to uninstall a lot of other packages too, and i favor not having to do so.
So, is it possible to uninstall glib 2.8.4? I cant seem to find anything in either the README or the INSTALL file coming with the source file

Thanks a lot in advance

If you used just:"./configure" to install it, you can run:
Code:
make uninstall
from the directory where you compiled it. The same is true if you used "./configure --prefix=/some/directory". But if you used "./configure --prefix=/usr" it will probably remove also the 2.6.4 which by default installs under /usr
