I noticed that pwcx didnt work for me unless it loaded as a module. As for sound.. you should be running ALSA. check alsamixer. are you running KDE? Make sure aRts is off. does your kernel have compiled in sound support? PWC/X only supprts your camera, so sound problems are NOT related to this module (unless your using the webcam mic) in that case, I dont know.. my webcam mic does not seem to be working in this release..
I have pwc and pcwx as modules. I have a Logitech QuickCam Zoom, and for it to work i have to load pwc with "power_save=1" and then load pwcx.
I'm running ALSA, and I'm using Fluxbox, i just installed gnomemeeting from synaptic, and i got this strange message (gnomemeeting does not even start). I tryed to install gnomeeting from source, but i'm missing libgnome-2 devel, and i didn't find the packet on synaptic, and the only devel i found on the net is 2.4.0 (i'm using 2.6.0-11) so i won't install it.
I'll work around those errors, what's really strange for me is that sometimes the cam works, and sometimes does not. I guess maybe is because of the beta version of pwcx.
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the support you've given me. ^_^
2004-02-01: Attention, users with a Logitech QuickCam Zoom: Wolgang Kruse reported that when he uses the "power_save=1" module parameter, his camera started working. I don't have an immediate explanation, other than that the camera perhaps puts too much load on the USB bus when it's not in use (of course it's not powersaving when in use), and thus causes some troubles with some USB controllers. It the solution is that simple....
Taken from the same webpage.....It worked for me in 2.4.23, 2.4.25
