13.37 Chromium missing menu bar, icons, looks awkward

Hello,

I have ditched Firefox for Chromium but I have a little problem.

I have downloaded the latest Linux binary from:
http://commondatastorage.googleapis....rome-linux.zip

and extracted it into my home directory as suggested on Slackwiki:
http://slackwiki.com/Chromium_browser

I have installed GConf ORBit2 and google-chrome-pam-solibs and all dependencies seem satisfied:

Code:

root@local:~# ldd /home/oc/chrome-linux/chrome |grep -i found
But when I launch Chromium there's a horrible red bar at the top, the "Settings" icon is missing (I can still access Settings with ALT+F) and all in all it looks quite awkward, at least compared to Chromium on Windows. Screenshot is attached.

Command line launch with errors:
Code:

bash-4.1$ ./chrome-linux/chrome
[12034:12037:6102903622:ERROR:bus.cc(307)] Failed to connect to the bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
[12034:12037:6102903810:ERROR:bus.cc(307)] Failed to connect to the bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
[12036:12036:6102950071:ERROR:nacl_fork_delegate_linux.cc(107)] Bad NaCl helper startup ack (0 bytes)
failed to create drawable

The "failed to create drawable" I had it with Firefox too but I never had a problem with that. Any ideas?

Solved by switching to the GTK+ theme. Now I can see the Settings icons. It still looks a bit clumsy, so if anybody has any ideas, please come forward.

Thanks Jeremy for moving this thread. Please read my previous posts and come forward if you have any ideas. I'll post on the Google Chrome forum to see if somebody has any ideas.
