You are missing the grub.cfg file from the bootinfoscript output. Did you download and run the bootinfoscript from sourceforge or get that output from some other source. Without grub.cfg info there's not much to do but guess. You have Grub2 in the mbr and the core.img file where it should be but no boot menu info.
Grub would complain if the config file would be missing, but in this case the BIOS does not even see Grub. I had this once (and it did cost me 2 hours to find it ) when I accidentally removed the harddisk from the boot options in the BIOS.
So the first advice I would give is: Check your BIOS if you have the harddisk in your boot order.
hi yancek
yes downloaded it from sourceforge any ideas of how I can get the missing files into the correct place? My guess is that files could be missing as Ive have an microwave link for the internet
Is it worth a new download of 12.04 and re install, doesnt really matter what I try as far as I can see the disk is wiped clean.
Yes the first thing I checked was BIOS hard drive is priority, have got as far as pink screen Booting from the hard drive on one occasion, but then it hung
The bootinfoscript does not indicate the grub.cfg file is missing, in fact it indicates it is on sda1. What I was saying is that it was not included in the bootinfoscript output you posted.

How did you determine that? Did you mount sda1 to see the files using a Live CD??
