[Firefox] Does Master Password fight access via internet?

Is it necessary to set a Master Password in Firefox, if I am not concerned about local intrusion?

I use Firefox and it has a built-in password manager that can store all of my various passwords. There is an option to set a Master Password, so that one has to type a single password in, only once per session, that unlocks any Web site whose password is stored by the password manager. If I am not concerned about someone gaining physical access to my computer, do I need to have a Master Password set? In other words, does this Master Password enable any extra encryption or other that makes it harder for a malicious hacker to steal the passwords stored by the password manager?

No. If noone else has physical access to your system I wouldn't worry about using a Master Password. either way the password file is encrypted.
