*** No rule to make target `pending-patches'. while upgrading iptables

I'm getting the following error while upgrading iptables:

Code:
[root iptables-1.4.2]# make pending-patches KERNEL_DIR=/usr/src/linux-2.6.27.10
make: *** No rule to make target `pending-patches'. Stop.
Any ideas on what may be causing this? Distro is CentOS5 btw.

Thanks in advanced
