'stop motion' won't load my pictures

when i import pictures into stopmotion they either show up but you can't see the pictures (just a black screen), only a few load correctly or in the process of loading the software crashes. i'm using the latest ubuntu.

the pictures i normaly try and load are jpg 1600x1200.

I've never seen that software before - nice idea!

I looked in the Ubuntu bug tracker, and it looks like it's a known problem (it would seem like a pretty fundamental one too, given the purpose of the program!):

There has been another release from the authors which is one minor version up from the one in the Ubuntu repositories - you should probably give that a try if it doesn't require a bunch of deps you don't have.
