ZendOptimizer

I configured ZendOptimizer on CentOS x64 as a php extension, but I keep getting "HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error" from apache as long as this extension is loaded.
Any1 experienced the problem before?
If I remove the extension from php.ini everything is working properly.
