yum error

I have redhat linux server and when i run yum check-udpate , it throws the following error messages. The OS which i downloaded is from oracle site.

Setting up repositories
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: update
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

My redhat release version:

Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (October Update 5)

Can anyone pls advise me what could be the reason of giving such errors.
Thanks in advance

I would suggest their are no repositories set-up what is common to unregistered versions. Have you actually paid for a license? Red Hat do not allow unregistered versions of RHEL to use the official repositories as it goes anyway.
