XP desktop to Ubuntu server slow copy
 

Hi. I have an odd problem. I set up a file server with Ubuntu Gutsy. It is writing NTFS to the storage drive. At the time, my desktop was running Vista Business. Copy times from the desktop to the server were acceptable. When I'd finally had enough of Vista, I put XP Pro back on my desktop. Now when I try to copy to the storage drive, copy times are super slow. We're talking around six minutes to copy 100MB. I have no idea what could be causing this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

This is LinuxQuestions, not M$Questions... I mean, probably this is a M$ question and probably we'll not be able to answer to this. Sorry!

Well, the problem lies in the server, which is Linux. I can't copy at a normal rate from my laptop, either but thanks for your help.

Well, I installed Server 2k3 and it works as it should now. I wonder if there's a bug in the NTFS driver for Ubuntu? I never did figure out what the problem was, but it was a Linux problem.
