Xfsamba
 

Hello all,
I am using slackware 11.0 and XFCE 4.2
Does Xfsamba allow direct access to windows XP files?
Here is what is happening to me :
I click on the groups and can see slackware PC and Win XP PC.
Xfsamba even allows me to access the XP machine and grab the files I want.
The only problem is it wants to download any file I want to access.
It is not acting like windows Network neighborhood.

What I want to do is simply click on a file (say mp3) in the XP PC and have it play with say XMMS on my slackware PC. OR say for example drag and drop the XP files into my XMMS play list.

Is this possible?

short answer yes

the only way I have found to make this happen is to mount the network drive in a local directory this will then act as if it was a local file and allow drag and drop or double click playing

if there is a better way I'm sure someone else will add it here but for now this will get things working the way you want
