X taking up a lot CPU time

Lately our main server running RHEL AS3 indicates high CPU Time by X.
Performance degrades by time as this value increases and eventually hung up the operating system (even some users still can connect to the application/database).

Below is a snapshot of TOP:

Can anyone give me a hint on what exactly causes this or where to look further?

TIA!

I might be wrong but what this seems to indicate is that X was up and running for 143+ hours but only consumes 1.9% cpu.
Oracle on the other hand consumes about 77% cpu combined.

I guess I misinterpreted the CPU (up) time... I've never seen any process taking such a lengthy CPU Time on the TOP list previously.
Thanks crashmeister for the enlightenment! Will have to look further on the other side now ...
