X server versus LTSP

I want to setup a couple of cheap low end workstations or even thin clients for my family to use and run off one central server.

Is there a benefit to using LTSP versus just running X windows clients?

I know that X does not support sound.

I want to be able to support USB, sound, etc at the local device to be able to synch iPods and digital cameras and such.

Comments appreciated.

I don't which is best, but I'd have thought either LTSP as you mentioned, or Openthinclient (http://www.linux.com/feature/147795) would be worth a look.
