winblows ask to login??


my smb.conf looks like this

netbios name = Debian
security = user

[test1]
comment = blah
volume name = disk1
path = /mnt/disk1
public = yes
writeable = yes

[test2]
comment = blah
volume name = disk2
path = /mnt/disk2
public = yes
writeable = yes

[test3]
comment = blah
volume name = disk3
path = /root/files
public = yes
writeable = yes

now when i browse to the folders in windows it asks for a non existent login i dont give 2 spits about security or hackers i just need to get to my g-damn server

add guest = nobody to your [global] section, and also change security = user to security = share

add guest ok = yes to your share sections. I think that will work

Or, just create a dummy user in SAMBA and use that as your authentication on your Windows machine, like username: user password: password.

i gave in and just setup a user and pass its working now
