Why cant the database create a new file with write permissions

Hi All,

I'm using rhel 5.1 running our oracle databases.

I have a filesystem that is mounted from a windows box. When i create a file in the windows directory it gives me the correct writable permissions. if the database creates a file it will not create it with writable permissions. anybody no why?

This is using a NFS mount from windows server 2003.

sorry should have stated that when the database creates a file it creates it on the linux box. not the windows box
