Which distros/releases support iscsi targets

Ive been fighting an issue trying to create iscsi targets, and I have come to believe that my kernel does not support this feature.

Does anyone know which distros or releases support iscsi targets? I think this is related to how the kernel is built. I have no experience building a kernel, and would prefer to work with a standard distro, such as centos, if possible.

Ubuntu LTS seems like a good choice.
