Where is logfile showing soft memory errors RHEL 2.1 / Openview
Hello all,
I am looking at a series of alerts received from Openview for a server on RHEL 2.1 running on a DL380 (2 GB Ram = 4 x 512 266 Mhz DIMMS)
Kernel : Linux XXXXXXXX 2.4.9-e.71smp #1
I have looked through dmesg / and /var/log/xxxxx files but cannot see any system related logfiles where these memory errors would have been recorded (I did a 'grep -i mem *' on all the files in the folder)
I have been onto the system console, but nothing of interest there either.
Does anyone know if there is an Openview specific logfile perhaps ?
NOTE : the errors are correctable (sort) errors so I'm not even sure if they're supposed to be recorded.
You should connect to the IPMI/ILO interface of your DL380. There you will find an overview of the system health.

The Monitoring Sensors screen displays a snapshot of the temperature, fans, and voltage sensor data, including sensor type, name, status, and current reading. To access this page from a web browser, click Monitoring Sensors on the main menu navigation bar.
Also you may send SNMP Trap messages:

The IPMI PEF Configuration screen enables you to set an alarm or specified condition originating on the server to alert an IPMI 2.0-supported systems management console. To access this page from a browser, click IPMI PEF Configuration on the main menu navigation bar.
I bet this is configured on your system and you received the message from the management board.
