where is bind log file

I tried to log the activity of the bind9 server using the following commands

Code:
/usr/sbin/rndc querylog
and then

Code:
tail -f /var/log.messages
Terminal says file could not be found. IS there any other file which contains this logging information that I am supposed to read?

Currently I am using Ubuntu 14.04 version.

It's a system process so my first guess would be /var/log/syslog
However,
If you look in the config file for bind (probably in /etc/bind however a "man bind" should give you the distro appropriate location) it may specify a different location.

have you tried:

tail -f /var/log/message

instead of tail -f /var/log.messages
