What types of VPN are usually running Companies / Universities?

Example of VPN :

Cisco-VPN (citrix), VPN from microsoft winnt Server edition (simple to install), vpnc, vpnclient(propritärer Client von Cisco) ), IPSec (FreeS/WAN , Openswan, strongSwan, racoon), PPTP (pptpclient), OpenVPN, L2TP (FreeS/WAN, Openswan, strongSwan, racoon), Vtun, OpenSSH.

What are our chances under Linux, to look like Solaris/BSD or microsoft servers, ie. to have services like every others companies?

Hello,
I didn't understand your question, do you ask what are the vpn services available on Linux or as you title says : what do compagnies and universities use (and then your thread is more like a survey) ?
My university use Microsoft vpn pptp mppe (unfortunately, we need to patch and taint the kernel for that and afaik there aren't patches for the last kernels).
