What possible Linux OS to used when i will configuring RAID1 as well as hot swapping.
I tried CentOS 64bit, Fedora Core 6 64bit in my IBM Machine(xseries 226) type 86484AA. Id already configured the RAID1 (SCSI) in the systems, i double checked if my configuration is right and i think its ok because my two HD in the SCSI will become one as a RAID1. After that i installed CentOS or Fedora Core 6 and its completely done. On the running OS, i made a file and save it. After that i shut off the machine and unmount the one HD on the machine, so we have only one HD is mounted. In this scenarios we are pointing the hot swapping issues which is RAID1(Mirroring) because we are making a back-up files in here, thats why i did this. After that i turn it ON the machine, and i found out that the system will not run completely it means that the files that i created before was not copied to the other HD.
Im really dispirit about this issues because i worked this problem for almost two weeks already and i can find the exact solution. Is it also possible that my problem here is my Operating System? Please help me, give me the specific Operating System to be use.
Help us guys, im highly appreciate your help guys. Thanks in advance...
yes its already ONE drive, im using RAID1 which is mirroring.
When i start up the error appears are "kill panic and so on......" and it can't proceed to the OS that i was installed.
Please tell me what the best thing to do this, or a way to make my machine run completely. I am using a ServeRAID 7.00 SUPPORT CD configuring RAID 1 (Mirroring) thats updates BIOS/Firmware, ServeRAID Manager,Management,Monitoring, Device drivers, cluster and so on. thankss...
Is the error from the BIOS, the RAID manager, the bootloader, or which component? I can't honestly recall having seen an error that starts with "kill panic".
In setuping RAID1 which is mirroring has no problems, i think the problems here is the Operating System who has supported. Is it CentOS or Fedora are supported OS from RAID 1 (Mirroring) as well as hot swapping? or have any other Operating Systems that are supported aside from the two OS that i am using. Can you give some details about my problems, i mean a solutions.. Thank you
Actually, Mr. slackman i already loaded the vmlinuz and initrd.gz on the system through my live CD here. Which is IBM ServerRAID-7e (Adaptec HostRAID) Support CD, powered by: Linux. And i think initrd are already exist from the system, but i tried to look up the command vi /mnt/linuxrc and its unable to find. Where can i get this driver so that i can install as soon as possible. And Mr. slackman is it ok if if loaded this driver to my system, is there any problem with that. And also about with the GRUB.CONF is it safe also to add or to configure the GRUB. Advice me guys, i really need your help. Thanks in advance Mr. slackman...
