Web server - proxy question..

I am planning to switch my Internet provider from the cable company to FIOS from the phone company. I am getting a residential package, but I have my own domain at home and I run a small web server - family pictures, my Aikido dojo etc. Not enough to justify a business package, but Verizon blocks port 80 on residential systems. My web server is Apache, running on a Fedora 7 system. I've never had to work with proxies - can someone tell me (or point me at the appropriate documentation) the easiest way to keep my web server running and accessible to the rest of the world?

thanks,

nbc

Change the port it runs on would be the only way. Then you'll have the nasty ort-number at the end of your domain address.

I'd say if that's not an option, well, upgrade the plan or find a free host provider or a cheap one.

Ditto on finding a free/inexpensive web hosting provider. If you have a friend or otherwise know someone running a webserver maybe you can get them to set up a virtual host with a redirect to your webserver running on a different port. Of course, DNS would have to be setup appropriately.
