Web browser display issue with PHP?

I have installed Fedora 10 freshly.I edited the virtulHost line as:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin root
Document /var/www/html
Restarted the apache.
I created a page index.php under /var/www/html and can see the output
I was connected to internet earlier.I edited /etc/hosts file too :
Code: localhost.localdomain localhost
The moment I disconnected internet.
I was not able to open the same page.
I wondered if it has issue with What I did is: removed the entry from /etc/hosts.And tried restarting the apache service.
To my surprise, it dint come up.
Any idea why its behaving so?

Is Apache listening on Look for the "Listen" line in httpd.conf.

Are you browsing on the same computer as Apache is installed, or from a seperate machine?
