wu-imap is seriously easy to install, but also not regarded as a particular good choice for imap. it runs inside xinetd, so once you install the wu-imap rpm (assuming this is for fc5) you'll have /etc/xinetd.d/imap (or similar) to hold your configuration. you may need to change a line that says "disable=yes" to "no" if it's there, but after that that's all there is to it for *very* basic imap access. i think wu only supports single mbox files and such, i'd suggest you might prefer to look at a more modern and flexible daemon like dovecot. note that issues like firewalls could be an issue if you experience connectivity issues.
OK I will certainly take a look into dovecot... The reason why I suggested WU-IMAP is because it supports my already existing mailbox format that I am using, where as cyrius I read has its own format.
If dovecot can support a unix mail format and isn't to much of a pain to install then I will be happy. I only need general access since its for my personal mail and no other users will need it.
