've had trouble with every virtualization app I've come across but I've come closest with VMware. My system is Debian Lenny/Sid with a custom 126.96.36.199 kernel. As in the subject line, I'm trying to install VMware Server v1.0.4. I get this error and by reading it I can't figure it out.
I download the vmware-server-"version".tar.gz. I gunzip, tar -xvf, cd /vmware-server-distrib, and then run ./vmware-install.pl. I answer all the questions and when I come to building a modules for VMware, it freaks out and aborts.
If anyone could offer their expertise in VMware and Linux, I would be very appreciative and I'm willing to give any additional info needed to solve this issue. The error in my terminal window is this...
