Question vipw command and problem with temp files

OS: SLES 9 (Suse)
Package : pwdutils-2.6.4-2.30

Problem while using "vipw" program.
If no changes made in password files. i.e 'shadow'or 'group' files, then vipw didn't remove temporary file

eg.
> ls -la /etc/passwd.vipw*
/bin/ls: /etc/passwd.vipw*: No such file or directory
> sudo vipw
vipw: no changes made
> ls -la /etc/passwd.vipw*
-rw------- 1 root root 5020 Mar 15 11:28 /etc/passwd.vipwPfk3Ox

Please reply with a proper solution for the above issue.
