Using hpacucli to create a Hardware RAID-1 mirror

Using hpacucli on HP/Linux server hardware, how can I create a Hardware RAID-1 mirror, so if a disk fails, I have a live OS copy.

Later on, I need to figure out how to create a hardware RAID-5 array using the spare disks and how would you discover the logical device name for the RAID5 disk, i.e. would it be sdb ?

hpacucli communicates via the cciss driver (SMART Array) to the disks.

I think this is the recipe for a RAID 0 array, although I am unable to test this out right now.

Code:
# hpacucli ctrl slot=0 logicaldrive all show status
# hpacucli ctrl slot=0 pd all show
# hpacucli ctrl slot=0 create type=ld drives=1I:1:1,1I:1:2 raid=1
# hpacucli ctrl slot=0 show config detail

Is there any reason why you should'nt create a RAID5 array across array's, is there a performance hit ?

Why can each array (A and B) only hold 4 disks ?

What if I wanted to create a RAID 5 logicaldrive across all 8 disks, would there be a big performance hit ?

There is a lack of information from HP about this...

Code:
=> ctrl all show config

Smart Array P410i in Slot 0 (Embedded) (sn: 50123456789ABCDE)

array A (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)

     logicaldrive 1 (136.7 GB, RAID 1+0, OK)

     physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, SAS, 72 GB, OK)

array B (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)

     logicaldrive 2 (273.4 GB, RAID 1+0, OK)

     physicaldrive 2I:1:5 (port 2I:box 1:bay 5, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 2I:1:6 (port 2I:box 1:bay 6, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 2I:1:7 (port 2I:box 1:bay 7, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
     physicaldrive 2I:1:8 (port 2I:box 1:bay 8, SAS, 146 GB, OK)

SEP (Vendor ID PMCSIERA, Model SRC 8x6G) 250 (WWID: 50123456789ABCED)
