Upgrading squid

I am currently running squid-2.5 on a Fedora Core 5 server. What is the best way to upgrade to squid-2.6 without having to reconfigure squid?

Thanks,

just find a squid 2.6 rpm and install it. there are a few tiny differences in logic, but unliekly to be anythign requiring any real configuration.

There doesn't appear to be a squid-2.6 rpm for Fedora Core 5, just FC6.
If I download the binaries for squid-2.6 and compile it for FC 5, what will that do to my current installation?

Thanks,

Just a word of warning - if you use transparent proxying
the differences in the config are significant, and non-trivial
to resolve.

Cheers,
