Hi,

I am unable to connect to the FTP created on linux redhat using the local user option getting below mentioned error

500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/home/ashu
500 OOPS: child died
Connection closed by remote host.

I have given full permission to user as well

Entry in my conf file is below

@#######################################################################
#banned_email_file=/etc/vsftpd/banned_emails
#
# You may specify an explicit list of local users to chroot() to their home
# directory. If chroot_local_user is YES, then this list becomes a list of
# users to NOT chroot().
chroot_list_enable=YES
# this entry is made by prashant
chroot_local_user=YES
# (default follows)
chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd/chroot_li
######################################################################
Please help

Regards
Prashant Sharma

Make sure you have selinux disabled or edited correctly.

"500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/home/luser"

As I think SELinux was causing the problem. For anyone who (like me) isn't very familiar with SELinux, it can be disabled by editing /etc/selinux/config, and changing "targeted" to disabled.

ftp_home_dir on

Allow ftp access to SELinux. Following command worked fine for me.

#/usr/sbin/setsebool -P ftp_home_dir 1

Also relable the selinux context to match /var/ftp
Ex: chcon -R --reference /var/ftp /home/ashu
