Question unable to bind the server to port 8080 for usage on local lan


hi folks,
i server is working fine with default httpd file but i want to listen on any other port oterthan 80 so that my server could be accessed
from the local lan.
in the httpd.conf file i give listen 10.8.20.192:8080 but still the server doesnot open the 8080 port
please i need to organize an event and need urgent help.

Logs Logs Logs. Read what the logs say. What does the error log and access log says. See if something else is using that port by the following command in terminal

Did you actually restarted the apache service?

As said about, use:
netstat -tapn | grep 8080
To check if your application... or another one is using that port.
