Ubuntu Server and Fedora 8, neither find my internet connection via my AN35N Ultra.
I had a little ongoing war between 2 distros trying to decide whether I wanted to go the Ubuntu 7.10 route or the Fedora 8 route to be my web/file/print server. Well, They both lose.
Neither one would recognize my internet connection.
It caused Ubuntu server to not even install properly, well I take that back, it would install if I didn't add any of the server functionality to it and just installed Linux itself.
Fedora 8 started as live cd, then I installed to hard drive and all seemed fine. I was real excited to see an automatic update feature available and then I thought I had made my decision. Nope. Couldn't connect to internet either.
My LAN is off the motherboard itself, the motherboard is a AN35N Ultra by Shuttle. Is it not compatible or something? This is extremely frustrating. As a web developer/designer, i am ready to get making the website I want to make, but I cant even get groundwork to put it on. :-(
(On Fedora 8 there was a list of network cards / drivers to choose from, but naturally mine was not on there. What do i do?)
Been wanting to run a server viz Linux for awhile, and neither of the easier to use distros will work. Not sure where to go from here. (I do not want win2k server to ever touch my server computer! HELP ME LINUX PROS!)
Thanks in advance.
