Ubuntu Samba Server Difficulties Authenticating WINXP Client

Hi

I have set up an Ubuntu Samba server and am using 7.04 Ubuntu.

I have created a user called administrator hoping to automatically/transparently connect the the samba server however Windows continually asks for a password when browsing to the server.
\\backup\
even entering the username/password fails to connect

I also created another user trying to get it to work
backup

now i can open the share directly
\\backup\Backup
using the username backup however cannot use the administrator user
nor can i browse the root share of the samba server \\backup\ since it asks for a separate username/password

Any ideas experience?
