Tomcat + java 32bit = growing swap - Problem


Hello,

I have two running Tomcats 5( -Xms2048M -Xmx3300M)(1.5 Java 32bit) on RedHat 4 x64. My server has 8GB ram.

I dont know why but each Tomcat generating such a big swap.

11820 user  19   0 3585m 2.2g 5344 S  1.0 24.9  37:37.86 1.3g java
Does anybody knows why ?

Hello!

-) What ps command did you use to generate that process output?

-) Have you looked at swap usage using nmon or something like nmon?

What I'm thinking is that swap can be allocated as a resource. Are you seeing the allocation, or actual usage?

u try to know the memory usage by sar -r and c how much memory is being used..

check http://www.computerhope.com/unix/usar.htm for more details on sar command
