Tiny Web Server?

After surveying the options for firewall/router packages to run on a Soekris board, I've decided to build my own by stripping down a mainstream distro - probably SuSE. I may, depending on space available, use Webmin for some things.

However, I would like to build my own web interface for status and simple stats (most of the complex stuff will be logged to a LAN machine).

Any recommendations for a simple, tiny web server? Something that serves one root folder on one port... however, I will probably want 1) PHP 2) SSL/HTTPS or at least .htaccess support. I guess I could always handle all of this with sessions in PHP...

Abyss Web Server is a tiny Web Server I use sometimes, it is really small and easy to configure.... It's not free software but you can purchase for free it's basic version. I'm not sure if it supports HTTPS...

There are plenty of lightweight httpd servers that you don't even have to pay for as well..

boa and thttpd are used on embeded systems

For thttpd there is ssi (server side includes) and .htaccess support.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into all of them.

I AM looking for something that's free, and open-source would be nice.
