You can use telnet to manually connect to an mail server and use SMTP protocol commands to compose and send an email to a user on that server, but I don't think that it is possible to view messages using telnet. If you want to see the network transactions that take place during an email session, I would suggest using wireshark or tshark.

Since telnet is not real mail client software, you cannot use as fully function mail client.
Definitely, you connect to particular mail server and send the message from there. you can trace the sent mails records at maillog file.
e.g
/var/log/maillog

Dear asifbasha,

You can see mail via telnet...Main purpose of telnet to check port is opened or not and service is running or not on particular port.

e.g:- telnet 111.111.111.111 25

This show SMTP service is running or not on port 25 and port 25 port is opened or not in firewall.
